The game

Pick your army. Then outmaneuver the enemy.

You spend a budget on your forces before each battle, then fight with what you bought. There’s no base building or resource gathering. Most battles take about five minutes, and you can pause to give orders at any time.

  • 30Skirmish battlefields

How it plays

Read the ground. Win the flank.

A Karst medium platoon catches three red Compact heavy tanks side-on at the edge of a pine forest.

01 · Armor

Hit them in the side

Each vehicle has separate front, side and rear armor, and each gun has a penetration value. A light tank can’t hurt a heavy from the front, but it can kill one from behind. Try it:

02 · Squads

Platoons, not single units

Each unit is a squad of 2–16 that shrinks as it takes losses. Both sides field heavy, medium and light tanks, tank destroyers, scout cars, riflemen, anti-tank teams, mortars and howitzers. Most have a special ability, like a sabot round or a smoke screen.

A red Compact column crosses a forest clearing while hidden Karst units wait in the treeline.

03 · Fog of war

You only see what your squads see

Forests and towns hide units, ridges block line of sight, and rivers force armor onto bridges and fords. Use scouts to find the enemy first. The AI plays under the same fog of war and gives the same orders you can.

The Operation front map: blue Karst sectors on the left, orange enemy territory on the right, with three battlegroups and attack arrows.
04 · Operation mode

A whole front, one turn at a time

A turn-based map of the whole front. Move up to four armies between sectors; every attack is fought as a real-time battle, and survivors keep their losses and rank. Sectors pay income and armies cost upkeep, so you can’t just keep buying.

05 · The Iron Wars

Three campaigns. One officer. Fifteen years.

Follow officer Dara Venn through a war between the Karst Dominion and the Iron Compact. Missions have their own objectives and up to three stars, and squads that survive carry over as named veterans.
